The freight forwarding and logistics industry is highly know-how intensive and requires complex, tailor-made solutions:

Anton Wagner GmbH

The forwarding company Anton Wagner GmbH is a logistics company that organises the collection and delivery of shipments for national and international customers and partners.

The company uses shipping.NET’s forwarding and transport module to manage routes, vehicles and shipments.
The aim of this project is to document the entire delivery route and optimally plan the routes while adhering to agreed delivery dates. Another focus is paperless scheduling, which streamlines processes within the company.

The key requirements are that the mobile data acquisition devices must be easy to use and the data transmission must be reliable. Outdoor use is crucial for this project, especially in terms of battery performance and operation at low and high temperatures. Using modern software architecture simplifies processes and increases employee engagement.

In a second phase, shipping.NET was used to allocate all costs and take into account the complex tariff system with a wide variety of billing bases, which is typical of the transport industry. The aim of this requirement was to transfer existing customer offers and to enable the company’s employees to easily complete and, above all, manage the billing of all parcels.

Managing Director Rosi Lerchenmüller sees shipping.NET’s user-friendly, time-saving and paperless handling as the greatest advantages: “With shipping.NET, we can do everything with one program – from order entry through processing to invoicing. The data interfaces and the status exchanges with freight forwarders, partners and customers also make coordination and communication much easier. We really appreciate the quick personal communication.”

Hirtenberger AG

The Hirtenberger Group is one of the most renowned, traditional enterprises in Austria. With more than 750 employees in Austria and Hungary, the company, which was founded in 1860, is now active in the automotive, defence technology and plant construction sectors.

An extremely successful pilot project to record inventory levels in individual subsidiaries was carried out at two of the seven subsidiaries in 2013. The aim of the project was to guarantee a seamless connection to the existing ERP system and to ensure easy operation of the application on mobile devices.

The tight implementation schedule and challenges involved in the semi-online transmission and integration of the existing mobile software solutions were particularly challenging.

The inventory solution was introduced at the other subsidiaries in a follow-up project in 2014. Additional challenges include the range of languages (German, English, and Hungarian) and need for international agreement, as well as how to implement specific requirements in a uniform software solution.

Processes were standardised and thus simplified using software architecture. Implementation of the inventory accelerated. In particular, post-processing the inventory data, which is otherwise very time-consuming, has been significantly reduced with shipping.NET.

Rudolf Leiner GmbH

A story seldom told –the development of Leiner on the Austrian market. Now in its fourth generation, Leiner and kika, founded in 1973, are managed as part of a group of companies. Expansion and further development have always been important components that also create lasting success. However, we have no intention of standing still. In recent years, kika has been particularly successful in expanding by opening up new markets in central and eastern Europe. Now Leiner will also expand its locations within Austria. Its long-established strong position on the domestic furniture market is mainly due to the ever-present family flair, which has become an indispensable asset. The company’s close connection to its employees and intensive customer relationships created a unique image that has been preserved to this day.

Since 2005, we have been supporting the Leiner & Kika company with a highly customised solution based on shipping.NET.

The real challenge in this project has been perfecting the perfect route planning for customer delivery and assembly. For this, we used shipping.NET’s route planning and adapted it to the company’s needs. The challenge was to reduce delivery mileage by 15%. In the project analysis, we realised that conventional route optimisation would not achieve this, but rather the intelligent allocation of delivery times.

We therefore opted for a completely new approach, in which we threw away the convention of planning routes by geographical area. Our optimisation calculates routes in real time, taking into account the existing route plan and the next customer the call center employees have to call. This creates a highly adaptive system which still guarantees permanently optimised route planning.

During planning, the system takes into account:

  • Operating hours
  • Multiple locations/depots
  • Special qualifications (carpenter, driver, kitchen fitter)
  • Time restrictions (working hours, lunch break, travel time)
  • Multi-day assemblies
  • Route occupancy

Loitz KG

We put our heart and soul into everything to do with “movement” and innovation.

The story started in 1939, when Gebhard Loitz founded the company. His son, Reinhard Loitz, continued the business from 1967 with the same dedication and success. In 2009, Bernd Loitz, partner and managing director from the third generation of the family, is tackling a great responsibility: providing customers with top vehicles, first-class head protection, professional work clothing and optimal customer service. There is no evidence that a Loitz ancestor was part of the invention of the wheel, but there’s no doubt that the family has been moving forward for generations. We also provide a variety of models and optimal customer service for the new Bicycle World exhibition (Fahrrad Erlebniswelt). The exhibition covers over 1000m² of space.

To ensure a trip on two wheels is always a pleasure, you need the right safety equipment, just in case. Helmexpress.com is the Loitz KG online shop and not only offers head protection for bikers, but also protective clothing and a high-quality, reasonably priced leather suit.

Anyone who wants to discover the joy of seeing the world on horseback or enjoy fantastic winter skiing will also find the right head protection at helmexpress.com.

Schrack Technik GmbH

The Schrack Technik Group is a leading technology group of companies specializing in products and solutions for power and data distribution. The core areas of the company are networking, optimisation and security of energy and data. Starting from Austria, the company established a strong market presence in Central Europe by creating a network of its own subsidiaries.

Since 2012, we have been supporting Schrack Technik with a highly specialised solution based on shipping.NET.

The special challenge in this project was to automate the determination of the optimal shipping partners for each shipment and the resulting cost reduction for the company. Thanks to the adjusted billing module, Schrack has a better overview of finances and can improve all its processes. The clarity and standardisation of the application mean that shipping.NET can serve a large number of freighters without third-party software. Furthermore, the fully automated packaging process optimises and simplifies daily employee tasks.

Since 1907, SKF has been a global technology provider and manufacturer of seals and ball, roller and anti-friction bearings. Over 46,000 people are employed at 140 locations in 32 countries, of which around 900 are employed by “SKF Österreich AG” in Austria alone.

An initial joint project with SKF Österreich AG in August 2013 saw the successful introduction of the shipping.NET storage module as a warehouse management system in the company’s component warehouse in Steyr. The reason for introducing shipping.NET as the new WMS was the software’s flexibility when connecting to different ERP systems, which facilitated the planned switch to SAP. Other successfully implemented project goals included connecting a driverless transport system directly to the WMS and reduced time between assembly tender and component delivery to the production channel.

The project also included standardizing the returned goods process and the simplifying consignment warehouse management with shipping.NET’s automatic processing of necessary removals by SKF. As a follow-up project, shipping.NET was also brought in as a warehouse management system at the Steyr site in 2016. The main aim here was to standardise processes in the two storage units (component storage and raw material storage).

SYSTEMPO Spedition & Logistik GmbH

As an association of medium-sized Austrian freight forwarders, Systempo offers its customers transport services at the highest level. With its Austria-wide network and clever service models, Systempo ticks all the boxes for customer logistics needs.

A “classic” IT solution would mean that each freight forwarder’s depot has to have its own expensive database server, along with the associated problems of data synchronisation and high personnel and maintenance costs. Not so with the logistics platform shipping.NET. It is a cloud-based solution that is available to all Systempo forwarders. Partner forwarders only need PCs with a dedicated internet line. Since the forwarders usually already have these available, the only hardware costs were for purchasing a few scanners for recording the track & trace data.

In addition to the enormous advantage of generating logistics data online, meaning that the forwarding agents do not incur any hardware costs, forwarding agents and their customers also benefit from online shipment tracking. It is easy to operate with input screens and mouse. No training is needed. If a forwarding agent wants to find out more about a shipment, they just need to click a few buttons: place of dispatch, shipment, status. And all the information appears on the screen in a second.

Integrated online logistics form the basis for coordination between forwarding agents and the Systempo scheduling service’s efficiency. This not only involves fleet utilisation and avoiding costly empty runs, but also providing rapid services such as “NxtDay” with guaranteed delivery throughout Austria within 24 hours, or “NxtDay 1030” with delivery by 10.30 a.m. the next day. These solutions also increase customer satisfaction. Other services from Systempo include “cash” for shipments with cash on delivery, dangerous goods transports and a parcel service with continuous shipment tracking.

Why did Systempo choose ondot solutions?
ondot solutions offered a low-cost online solution that was perfect for what we wanted.

Features at a glance:

  • Parcel scanning in all depots
  • Status recording at shipment and parcel level
  • Collection orders

Waterdrop

“Why has nobody thought of a product that doesn’t need another plastic bottle or can, that is beneficial and is so small that I can drop it in the neck of a water bottle?”

That’s what Martin thought and while he was thinking about it in spring 2016, he had a big idea for a little thing: The Microdrink – the best fruit and plant extracts compressed into a small cube. Just add fresh water. Enjoy.
And so, Martin, his friend Christoph, brother Henry and an incredible team turned this vision into reality.

Waterdrop grew rapidly and found the right shipping solution with shipping.NET. The company was impressed with shipping.NET’s quick and easy connection to their existing ERP system (Oracle NetSuite) and its easy/intuitive use.
When shipping.NET launched in May 2021, Waterdrop used DHL, DPD and Hermes for shipping. Much has changed since then and Waterdrop ships several thousand parcels a day across Europe. With the quick-connecting shipping solution from shipping.Net, many services can be covered by different shipping service providers.

Statement:
“After a particularly bad experience with a shipping solution in our own warehouse, we were looking for a modern, reliable and agile partner who would grow with us and support our ideas.
Ondot was recommended to us by several shipping service providers and after the first discussions it was clear who we would like to work with in the future.
Thank you to the whole team for your support – we are looking forward to further cooperation.”
