AFS Logistic Solutions

The freight forwarding and logistics industry is extremely know-how-intensive and demands complex,
customized solutions:

Anton Wagner GmbH

The forwarding company Anton Wagner GmbH is a logistics company that organises the collection and delivery of shipments for national and international customers and partners.

The company relies on shippingNET’s forwarding and transport module to manage tours, vehicles and shipments.
The aim of this project is to document the entire delivery route and optimally plan the routes while adhering to agreed delivery dates. Another focus is paperless scheduling, which streamlines processes within the company.

The key requirements are that the mobile data acquisition devices must be easy to use and data transmission must be reliable. Outdoor use, in terms of battery performance and operation at low and high temperatures, is crucial for this project. Using modern software architecture simplifies processes and increases employee engagement.

In a second phase, shippingNET was used to handle the entire cost allocation process. The complex tariff system typical of the transportation industry with its different billing bases was taken into account. The aim of this requirement was to take over the customers’ existing offers and to ensure the seamless and, above all, easy-to-administer billing of all packages by the company’s employees.

Bischofberger Transporte has been using shippingNET for four years to handle the wide range of different orders and customer requirements on time and to record, schedule and invoice all shipments in the best possible way. Managing Director Rosi Lerchenmüller sees the user-friendly, time-saving and paperless handling as the biggest advantage: “With shippingNET, we can do everything from order entry to processing and invoicing with one program. The data interfaces and the exchange of statuses with forwarding agents, partners and customers also make coordination and communication much easier. We really appreciate the personal and fast contact.”

The 50 or so employees at Bischofberger Transporte use shippingNET on a daily basis and across the board: they appreciate the fact that all processes can be handled digitally and that the system works simply and efficiently.

Hirtenberger AG

The Hirtenberger Group is one of the most renowned, traditional enterprises in Austria. With more than 750 employees in Austria and Hungary, the company, which was founded in 1860, is now active in the automotive, defence technology and plant construction sectors.

An extremely successful pilot project to record inventory levels in individual subsidiaries was carried out at two of the seven subsidiaries in 2013. The aim of the project was to guarantee a seamless connection to the existing ERP system and to ensure easy operation of the application on mobile devices.

The tight implementation schedule and challenges involved in the semi-online transmission and integration of the existing mobile software solutions were particularly challenging.

The inventory solution was introduced at the other subsidiaries in a follow-up project in 2014. Additional challenges include the range of languages (German, English, and Hungarian) and need for international agreement, as well as how to implement specific requirements in a uniform software solution.

By using modern software architecture, the processes have been standardized and thus simplified and the inventory process has been accelerated. In particular, the otherwise very time-consuming post-processing of inventory data is significantly reduced with shippingNET.

Rudolf Leiner GmbH

A story that life rarely writes – this or something similar is probably the best way to describe Leiner’s development on the Austrian market. Now in its 4th generation, Leiner is managed together with kika, founded in 1973, as a group of companies. Expansion and further development have always been important components that have also led to sustainable success. However, there is still no standstill in sight. In recent years, kika has been particularly successful in the area of expansion by opening up new markets in the CEE region. Leiner will now also expand its locations within Austria. Leiner’s strong position on the domestic furniture market, which it has enjoyed for a long time, is due above all to the family flair that has been present from the very beginning and is now indispensable. The close relationship with the employees and the intensive customer proximity created a unique image that has been maintained to this day.

We have been supporting Leiner & Kika since 2005 with a highly specialized solution based on shippingNET.

The particular challenge in this project is the optimal planning of routes for the area of customer delivery & assembly. To do this, we used the shippingNET tour planner and adapted it to individual requirements. The challenge was to reduce the number of kilometers driven by the delivery staff by 15%. In the project analysis, we found out that this cannot be achieved through the usual optimization of routes, but rather through the clever allocation of delivery times.

We therefore opted for a completely new approach, in which we threw away the convention of planning routes by geographical area. Our optimisation calculates routes in real time, taking into account the existing route plan and the next customer the call center employees have to call. This creates a highly adaptive system which still guarantees permanently optimised route planning.

During planning, the system takes into account:

  • Operating hours
  • Multiple locations/depots
  • Special qualifications (carpenter, driver, kitchen fitter)
  • Time restrictions (working hours, lunch break, travel time)
  • Multi-day assemblies
  • Route occupancy

Loitz KG

We put our heart and soul into everything to do with “movement” and innovation.

The success story began back in 1939 with the founding of the company by Gebhard Loitz. His son, Reinhard Loitz, continued the business with the same commitment and success from 1967. In 2009, Bernd Loitz, as partner and managing director, is the third generation to take on the great responsibility of providing customers with top vehicles, first-class head protection, suitable clothing and optimum customer service. Whether a “Loitz” was also involved in the invention of the wheel can no longer be determined today, but there is no question that the family has been “moving” for generations.

Model diversity and optimum customer service also apply to the new bicycle experience world. Over 1000 m² of exhibition space is available here.

To ensure a trip on two wheels is always a pleasure, you need the right safety equipment, just in case. Helmexpress.com is the Loitz KG online shop and not only offers head protection for bikers, but also protective clothing and a high-quality, reasonably priced leather suit.

Anyone who wants to discover the joy of seeing the world on horseback or enjoy fantastic winter skiing will also find the right head protection at helmexpress.com.

In a first joint project with SKF Österreich AG, the shippingNET warehouse module was successfully introduced as a warehouse management system in the component warehouse at the Steyr site in August 2013. The basis for the introduction of shippingNET as the new WMS was the flexibility of the software when connecting to different ERP systems, which should facilitate the planned changeover to SAP. Other successfully implemented goals of the project were to connect a driverless transport system directly to the WMS and to shorten the time between the assembly tender and delivery of the components to the production channel.

In addition, the returned goods process was standardized as part of the project and the management of the consignment warehouse was simplified by automating the necessary withdrawals by SKF using shippingNET.

As a follow-up project, shippingNET was also introduced as a warehouse management system in the raw materials warehouse at the Steyr site in 2016. One of the aims here is to standardize the processes in the two warehouse units (component warehouse and raw materials warehouse).

SYSTEMPO Spedition & Logistik GmbH

As an association of medium-sized Austrian freight forwarders, Systempo offers its customers transport services at the highest level. With its Austria-wide network and clever service models, Systempo ticks all the boxes for customer logistics needs.

A “classic” IT solution would have required a separate, expensive database server for each depot of each freight forwarder, including the associated problems of data synchronization and high personnel and maintenance costs. Not so with the shippingNET logistics platform. There is a cloud-based solution here, which is available to all Systempo forwarding companies. The individual partner forwarding agents only need PCs with a dedicated Internet connection. As these were generally already available, the hardware costs were limited to the purchase of a few scanners for recording the track & trace data.

In addition to the enormous advantage of generating logistics data online, meaning that the forwarding agents do not incur any hardware costs, forwarding agents and their customers also benefit from online shipment tracking. It is easy to operate with input screens and mouse. No training is needed. If a forwarding agent wants to find out more about a shipment, they just need to click a few buttons: place of dispatch, shipment, status. And all the information appears on the screen in a second.

Integrated online logistics form the basis for coordination between forwarding agents and the Systempo scheduling service’s efficiency. This not only involves fleet utilisation and avoiding costly empty runs, but also providing rapid services such as “NxtDay” with guaranteed delivery throughout Austria within 24 hours, or “NxtDay 1030” with delivery by 10.30 a.m. the next day. These solutions also increase customer satisfaction. Other services from Systempo include “cash” for shipments with cash on delivery, dangerous goods transports and a parcel service with continuous shipment tracking.

Why did Systempo choose ondot solutions?
ondot solutions offered a low-cost online solution that was perfect for what we wanted.

Waterdrop

“Why isn’t there actually a product that doesn’t need another plastic bottle or can, that is good for you and is so small?
that I can throw it into the neck of a water bottle?”

That’s what Martin thought, and while he was pondering his thoughts in spring 2016, he came up with the idea of a big thing that is very small: the microdrink – the best fruit and plant extracts compressed in the form of a small cube.
All you need is fresh water. No sooner said than done.
And so Martin, his friend Christoph, his brother Henry and an incredible team turned this vision into reality.

Waterdrop grew rapidly and the right shipping solution was found with shippingNET. The quick and easy connection to the existing ERP system (Oracle NetSuite) and the uncomplicated/intuitive work in shippingNET were convincing.
At the start with shippingNET in May 2021, shipping was handled by the service providers DHL, DPD and Hermes, a lot has happened since then and Waterdrop ships several thousand parcels a day within Europe.

With shippingNET’s quickly connected shipping solution, many services from different shipping service providers are covered.

Statement:
“After a particularly bad experience with a shipping solution in our own warehouse, we were looking for a modern, reliable and agile partner who would grow with us and support our ideas. Ondot was recommended to us by several shipping service providers and after the initial discussions it was clear who we would like to work with in the future.
Many thanks to the entire team for your support – we look forward to continuing to work with you.”
